Update on substituting out sugar and black tea

September 5th, 2009

It’s been about a week since I started substituting these foods:

black tea -> green tea

sugar -> honey or other foods

I feel good! In particular, the big spike followed by low that eating large amounts of refined sugar (such as triple-fudge chocolate cake, or ice-cream and cherry pie) gave me is now gone. I like this new way much more.

I’m also guessing I’ve reduced my caloric intake to about 3/4s by substituting out refined sugar (and foods that contain it).

Note: I usually have 2 cups of caffeinated tea a day. I used to have 1 black, 1 green. After substituting the black -> green, on several days I felt sluggish in the afternoon. Therefore, I added an extra 1/2 cup green tea. The sluggishness went away. I’ll probably gradually reduce the half cup over the next several weeks, until I no longer need it. We’ll see if it works.
