Sacha made the interesting point that fruit juices often contain almost as much sugar as soft drinks. Combined, they probably make up the majority of most people’s non-alcoholic liquid caloric intake. Here are 2 simple ways to reduce your juice or soft drink caloric intake:
1. With caffeinated pop, replace it with tea or coffee. This way, you’re not cutting out the caffeine, and the calories drop significantly.
2. With juice, simply cut the juice with water. For example, if you fill your cup half with juice and half with water, you might not lose much taste but will drop half the calories. (This depends on the kind of juice.) Alternately, I actually typically prefer having water with a slice of lemon or lime - very low caloric, and can be very nice if the weather is a little warm.
