How to Decrease Your Dishwashing by Half

May 12th, 2009

If you are hand washing your dishes, you can easily reduce the number of dishes to wash and re-stock by half by doing the following:

1. When you are finished a snack or meal, immediately rinse your dishes with warm water. You can use a dish cloth to wipe them clean, but often the water itself will clean the dish. (Unless there is significant oil, butter, or what have you, on them, in which case you might want to save them for use with the dish soap.)

2. Let them dry on a dish towel on the counter.

3. If you need a dish, take it from the ones drying on the counter.

By doing this, you will easily decrease the number of dishes that need to be washed and put away at the end of the day by half.

This has the benefit of reducing the amount of dish soap you are using as well.
